Canadians drink a lot of tea. In fact, it’s estimated that tea consumption in this country is about 85 litres per person per year. Imagine being able to get essential vitamins and minerals when you’re enjoying your next cuppa. Now you can, thanks to Tetley’s new line of Super Teas fortified with vitamins and minerals.

A first in Canada, these Tetley Super Teas come in three delicious types: Immune, Antiox, and Boost. “The Immune tea has become very popular, especially as we head into cold and flu season,” says Joyce O’Connor, a Senior Brand Manager with TATA Global Beverages. “Each cup delivers 20 percent of our recommended daily intake of zinc, which contributes to the normal function of our immune system.” The Immune flavour is blended with soothing lemon, echinacea, ginger, and honey — staple ingredients that people often seek to provide relief when feeling under the weather.

The second variant, Super Tea Antiox, is a tropical flavoured green tea with added vitamin C, which is known to have many health benefits, including being a dietary antioxidant. You can momentarily escape the cold Canadian winters with a taste of the tropics from one cup of Antiox tea, which also contains 25 percent of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C.

The third Super Tea, Boost, is infused with vitamin B6 which is a factor in energy metabolism and supports the maintenance of good health. Each cup contains 25 percent of the recommended daily intake of B6. “We’re hearing from some people who, instead of having other beverages like coffee in the afternoon, enjoy a cup of Boost tea because it makes them feel good and helps get them through their day,” says O’Connor.

A convenient and tasty way to get your vitamins

Our fast-paced and busy lives can sometimes make us time-starved. And although we may try to follow a healthy lifestyle, we don’t always get the right amount of nutrients in our diet. Now, we can get some added vitamins and minerals every time we have some tea. The Tetley Super Teas are available in major grocery stores across the country and are approved by Health Canada.

“The convenience is an important consideration, as is the taste,” says O’Connor. “Some products that have vitamins and minerals and don’t taste very good, but with our line of teas you can have a delicious experience while getting a boost of goodness.”
